Teletherapy | Pasadena
Between the 210, the 134, and the daily pull of work, family, and everything in between, finding time for in person therapy isn’t always realistic. If you’re searching for teletherapy in Pasadena, you’re likely looking for a way to get real support for your mental health without adding another commute to your week.
That’s exactly what teletherapy is built for. Through secure video sessions, you can connect with a licensed therapist from your own home, your office, or anywhere else in California where you have privacy and a stable connection. No freeway traffic, no parking search near Old Town or the Playhouse District, no rearranging your whole afternoon around a single appointment.
Why Pasadena Clients Choose Teletherapy
Pasadena is a city where people juggle a lot in their daily lives. Between professionals working long hours, families managing school schedules, and residents commuting into downtown LA, time constraints can make it hard to prioritize your own care.
Teletherapy removes that barrier. You can log in from your home near the Rose Bowl, your apartment close to South Lake Avenue, or a quiet office break room and still get the consistency therapy requires. If a meeting runs late or traffic on the 110 backs up, you haven’t lost your session, you’ve just logged in from wherever you are.
Attending sessions from a familiar space also fosters openness. Many clients find it easier to talk through sensitive relationship issues or family dynamics when they’re in a safe space of their own choosing, rather than an unfamiliar waiting room. That openness supports real healing, helping you move through life’s challenges toward a more empowered life.
Privacy matters too. Some people prefer not to be seen walking into a therapist’s office in a smaller, tight-knit community. Teletherapy helps protect that privacy and security while still giving you a supportive environment that feels safe and familiar.
Mental Health Support Through Teletherapy
Mental health concerns don’t wait for a convenient time to show up. Anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship conflict, and the emotional weight of life transitions can affect you whether you’re at your desk, at home, or in the middle of a busy week.
Teletherapy provides flexible access to mental health care so you’re not choosing between your responsibilities and your wellbeing. Many clients come to therapy looking for relief from anxiety and a greater sense of control over patterns that feel automatic.
Research suggests that effective online therapy can be comparable to traditional in person therapy for many concerns, and virtual formats also increase scheduling flexibility, which matters when your calendar is already full.
My Approach to Care
My practice, You Only Better Therapy, provides individual therapy and couples therapy services through secure video sessions to clients throughout California, including Pasadena. My work is relational, meaning I focus on the patterns, attachment styles, and emotional dynamics that shape how you connect with yourself and the people around you, and I help you move through the pain that keeps those patterns in place.
As a trained and licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I draw on various therapeutic modalities, including psychodynamic and attachment-based approaches, to help you understand what keeps you stuck and support meaningful change. Depending on what brings you to therapy, our work together may also touch on:
- Attachment-focused therapy, which looks at how early relationships shaped the way you connect, trust, and feel secure in your relationships today.
- EFT and high-conflict couples therapy, which helps partners understand the cycles that keep them stuck and rebuild a felt sense of safety with each other.
- Nervous system regulation, which supports you in recognizing and calming the stress responses that show up as anxiety, overwhelm, or shutdown.
- Trauma-informed therapy, an approach that holds your history with care and sensitivity without requiring intensive trauma processing. This is different from trauma-focused modalities like EMDR, which I do not provide.
Every client is different, so clients may prefer a therapist experienced with the specific issues they’re facing. An initial consultation is a chance to explore what’s bringing you to therapy and determine whether this approach feels like the right fit, and it’s the first step toward getting the guidance you’re looking for.
Who This Is For
Teletherapy through my practice may be a good fit if you're an individual addressing anxiety, low self-esteem, people-pleasing tendencies, dysfunctional family patterns, or relationship issues. These are the concerns I most often treat, and they're often present in treatment for the individuals and couples I work with. It's also a good fit for couples who want to break out of recurring conflict and rebuild emotional connection. I work with adults, ages 20 and above, who are ready to look honestly at the patterns keeping them stuck. Teletherapy isn't the right fit for every situation. If you're in crisis or need a higher level of care than weekly sessions can provide, I'm glad to talk through what other resources might serve you better.
What to Expect
Sessions From Your Own Home
Getting started is simple. After an initial consultation, which helps us assess whether we’re a good fit to work together, I’ll send you a secure link to use for our video sessions. All you need is a private space and a reliable internet connection.
California requires telehealth providers to obtain your consent before beginning care, so we’ll cover that together as part of getting started. Sessions are confidential, and I’ll ask a few questions as part of our initial assessments to understand your history and what’s bringing you to therapy now.
Many clients find that being in their own home, rather than an unfamiliar office, actually makes it easier to settle in and be honest. It’s one less barrier standing between you and the support you’re looking for.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is teletherapy as effective as in person therapy?
Research suggests that online therapy can be an effective option for many people, particularly for anxiety, relationship difficulties, and processing life transitions. What matters most is finding a therapeutic relationship that feels safe and consistent, which teletherapy can absolutely provide.
Do you offer in person sessions in Pasadena?
No. My practice is fully online, which allows me to offer accessible, evidence based care to clients throughout California, including Pasadena, without geographic limitations.
How do I know if a therapist is legitimate?
California’s licensing authorities recommend confirming that therapists hold an active license before starting care. I’m a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and you’re always welcome to verify my license directly.
What do I need for a session?
A private, quiet space and a stable internet connection are all that’s required. Many clients use a bedroom, home office, or even a parked car when needed.
Is online therapy covered by insurance?
I don’t accept insurance directly, but I can provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance provider for possible out-of-network reimbursement. I’d recommend confirming your out-of-network benefits with your insurer beforehand.
How do I know if teletherapy is right for me?
If you’re motivated to do the work and have access to a private space, teletherapy can work well for most individuals and couples. We can talk through your specific concerns during a consultation to help you decide whether it’s a good fit.
